Five pieces of cranberry red glass, each wrapped in an Italian Renaissance country scene — figures, landscapes, and the warm romanticism of the Italian countryside rendered in gold on glowing ruby glass. This is the kind of set that transforms a bar cart into something closer to a still life painting.
The decanter is blown glass, graceful and full-bodied. The four stemmed glasses — most likely wine or sherry size with a short elegant stem — show evidence of mold-blown construction on the foot, consistent with fine Italian production of the era. The gold rims and scene detailing show only the slightest wear consistent with sixty-plus years of age. Marked "Made in Italy." Hand wash only to protect the flashing and gold detail.
After extensive research we believe these are from KB Glass — Koscherak Brothers of New York — one of America's premier importers of fine Italian glassware from 1895 through the 1970s, selling exclusively to Macy's, Bloomingdale's, and B. Altman's. A piece with genuine provenance.
